About Malaka
Malaka heads the Lending Services business unit in Sri Lanka overseeing a team of 215+ FTEs that support a large European commercial bank in its portfolio management function; this is the largest delivery team based in Colombo. Additionally, he supports the ramp-up of sustainable finance and ESG across Lending Services.
Malaka has been with Acuity Knowledge Partners (Acuity) for nearly 20 years and has experience in managing teams and supporting equity research (both sell-side and buy-side) and fixed-income teams, as well as credit research teams that support commercial banks. Furthermore, he has briefly managed teams supporting Investment Banking and Compliance Services during his stint at Acuity. Before managing teams, he started as a Sell-side Analyst supporting two client teams for a large sell-side investment bank based out of New York and San Francisco covering the IT hardware sector.
Before joining Acuity, Malaka worked at Ernst & Young in Colombo in the Business Consultancy division. Before that, he worked as a Management Trainee at Lanka Bell, a telecommunication company in Sri Lanka.
He is a CFA charter holder from the CFA Institute (USA), as well as an ACMA from CIMA UK. He enjoys playing cricket and watching movies and TV series.
Malaka has been in the CFA Society Sri Lanka board for six years and has been leading the membership outreach team and many other initiatives conducted by the CFA Society Sri Lanka.
